General questions

Does the Swiss vignette cover tunnels like the Gotthard?

The Gotthard road tunnel (A2 motorway) is part of the Swiss motorway network. You will only need a valid Swiss motorway vignette (physical or digital) or a valid LSVA / PSVA. No additional extra toll is required. All major Swiss motorway tunnels are included with a valid vignette.

Some tunnels and crossings charge separate tolls, even if you have a vignette:

  • Great St. Bernard Tunnel (Switzerland ↔ Italy)
  • Munt la Schera Tunnel (to Livigno)
  • Car transport tunnels such as Lötschberg and Vereina (these are train services, not motorways)

Tunnel / Service Approx. One-Way Toll (CHF/EUR)
Great St. Bernard Tunnel ~ CHF 29.50 / €27.80
Munt la Schera Tunnel ~ CHF 15 – CHF 30+
Lötschberg Car Train ~ CHF 35 – CHF 50+
Vereina Car Train ~ CHF 35 – CHF 50+
