General questions

Can I drive until the first exit without a vignette?

Generally, no. The vignette requirement typically applies immediately upon crossing the border. However, exceptions are made at five specific border crossings to allow access to customs facilities and local infrastructure.

You may drive vignette-free only on these specific stretches:

·  Basel / Weil am Rhein (A2): German border to exit Basel-Kleinhüningen.

·  Rheinfelden (A3): German border to exit Rheinfelden-West.

·  Kreuzlingen (A7): German border to exit Kreuzlingen.

·  Bargen (A4): Border to exit Schaffhausen-Schweizersbild.

·  Chiasso (A2): Italian border to exit Chiasso Centro.

If you continue on the motorway beyond these specific exits, you are subject to the standard fine.
